Kenyan schools continued to stamp their authority at the ongoing Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) rugby games in Kakamega, producing dominant displays across both the 7s and 15s categories on Saturday at the bullring grounds.
In the boys’ 7s, Bungoma High and Kenyan champions St. Peter’s Mumias proved unstoppable, with Bungoma edging out rivals Koyonzo 19–7 before cruising past Uganda’s Mbarara High 7–0. St. Peter’s ran riot against London College Maya, sealing a comfortable 31–0 win before thumping Makerere College 40–12 in their second outing. Bwake Secondary also added to Kenya’s strong showing with a 38–5 triumph over London College.
On the girls’ side, Kinale Secondary underlined their status as one of the teams to watch, dispatching their Kenyan counterparts Paul Harris Secondary 38–7 in a one-sided contest. St. Theresa’s edged JOGA 7–5 in an all-Kenyan affair, while Uganda’s Jinja S.S. picked up bragging rights with a narrow 7–0 win over Nkoma S.S.
The 15s category was no less entertaining. Kenyan champions Vihiga Secondary School edged a spirited Upper Hill side 15–8 in a tense all-Kenyan Pool A clash. Earlier, All Saints brushed aside Uganda’s Busoga College Mwiri 27–3, while Jinja S.S. upset Namilyango College 13–3 in another Ugandan derby.
With the pool stages heading into the business end tomorrow, Kenyan teams have set the pace, but Uganda’s Jinja S.S. have shown they won’t go down without a fight. Sunday’s fixtures promise fireworks as the battle for semifinal slots intensifies.
