Kenya Morans clinched the 2025 Zambezi 7s title in emphatic fashion, defeating hosts Zambezi Cheetahs 14-0 in a tense final held in Harare.
The match began with both national anthems, setting the tone for a fiercely contested encounter. The opening half was a defensive battle, with both sides searching for an early breakthrough. Kenya’s Jackson Siketi was sent to the sin bin midway through the first half, but the Cheetahs failed to capitalize on the numerical advantage, leaving the scores locked at 0–0 at halftime.
The second half saw the hosts threaten to open the scoring through Ryan Musumi, but a superb last-ditch tackle from Rayvon Ambale denied the Cheetahs just five metres from the try line. Another close attempt from the Cheetahs went begging as they knocked on inches from the try box.
Kenya’s breakthrough came moments later when a dangerous tackle on Chrisant Ojwang earned Cheetahs’ Tapiwa Malega a red card. The Kevin Wambua-led side seized the momentum, with Floyd Wabwire cutting through to score the opener. Ambale added the extras for a 7–0 lead.
With minutes remaining, Wabwire struck again to seal the victory, and Ambale’s second conversion confirmed a 14–0 win for the Morans, securing the coveted Zambezi 7s title.
Earlier in the tournament, the Morans had cruised past Old Miltonians 48–0 in the quarterfinals before overpowering Old Georgians 21–0 in the semifinals.
