Kenya Lionesses Set Up East African Showdown with Uganda as Shujaa Reach Men’s Final

The 2025 Safari Sevens will culminate in an all-East African women’s final as Kenya Lionesses clash with rivals Uganda on Sunday afternoon at the Nyayo National Stadium.

Both sides earned their place in the title decider, setting up what promises to be a fiery contest between familiar foes.

Uganda were the first to punch their ticket to the final after edging out defending champions Costa Blanca Barbarians 17–12 in the semifinal. Lydia Namabiro opened the scoring for the Lady Cranes before Grace Nabagala’s converted try extended the lead to 12–0. The Barbarians fought back through Stella Juana and a late equalizer to make it 12–12, but Namabiro struck again with a match-winning try down the right flank to seal Uganda’s victory.

The Kenya Lionesses followed with a tense 12–10 win over Shogun. Chantelle Miell put Shogun ahead early, but Freshia Oduor’s converted try gave the Lionesses the lead before Edith Nariaka added another to make it 12–5. Shogun’s Mar Molina reduced the deficit just before halftime, but the Lionesses stood tall in defense during the second half to secure their spot in the final.

The two sides will now renew their rivalry in the final, a match that always delivers passion and intensity.

In the men’s competition, Kenya Shujaa booked their place in the final after defeating Zimbabwe 29–19 in a fast-paced semifinal encounter. The home side impressed the home crowd as they chase another Safari 7s title.
