Germany sealed the SVNS 2 Nairobi title after Kenya’s perfect run came to an end on the final day, a result that ultimately pushed Shujaa down to a third-place finish at Nyayo Stadium.
Kenya’s 21–5 loss to the USA, their first defeat of the tournament proved decisive. Germany 7s topped the standings with 13 points in a round robin format two day event, while both USA 7s and Kenya 7s finished level on 12 after five rounds.
Shujaa made a lively start but found the American defence difficult to break. The breakthrough went the USA’s way when Lucas Lacamp hacked the ball through the line and sprinted clear to score, giving his side a narrow halftime lead.
The Americans extended their advantage early in the second half, turning a penalty into points as Aaron Cummings powered over from a lineout drive. Adam Channel added another to put the result beyond doubt before George Ooro produced a late consolation, racing from deep inside Kenya’s half to score.
Uruguay 7s returned to form in emphatic fashion, overpowering Canada 7s 43–12. Ignacio Rodriguez grabbed a brace, while Dante Soto, Juan Manuel Tafernaberry, Alfonso Vidal, Mauricio Maly and Joaquin Cat also crossed in a one-sided contest that left Canada winless.
Germany’s title charge also included a gritty 12–5 win over Belgium 7s. Niklas Koch struck first before Benjamin Ruddick levelled matters. Jakob Dipper’s decisive try ultimately sealed the victory for the champions.
Argentina Women Crowned Champions
In the women’s competition, Argentina Women’s 7s were confirmed champions despite suffering a dramatic 17–12 golden-time defeat to South Africa Women’s 7s in their final match.
Argentina, unbeaten heading into the clash, took an early lead through Marianela Escalante. South Africa responded via Maria Tshiremba to tie the scores at the break.
Sofia Gonzalez restored Argentina’s advantage with a clever dummy and dash, but Patience Mokone once again drew South Africa level to force extra time. In golden time, Tshiremba struck again after a turnover and quick wide shift, sealing the win and second place overall.

Spain Women’s 7s condemned Kenya Lionesses to a fifth-place finish with a 14–5 victory, Kenya’s third straight loss.
Elsewhere, China Women’s 7s closed their campaign on a high, beating Brazil Women’s 7s 24–5.
