KCB moved clear at the summit of the National Sevens Circuit standings after defeating Menengai Oilers 19-5 in the Christie 7s cup final at Nairobi’s RFUEA Grounds on Sunday, 17 August 2025.
Bankers Secure Christie Crown
The Bankers struck early, with Brian Wahinya converting Floyd Wabwire’s try for a 7-0 lead. Festus Shiasi then added a second as KCB went into the break 12-0 ahead.
Wabwire completed his brace in the second half, Wahinya adding the extras for a 19-0 cushion. The Oilers grabbed a late consolation through Sam Ovwamu, but it wasn’t enough to deny KCB a second circuit title this season.
Road to the Final
Dennis Mwanja’s men reached the decider after edging Kenya Harlequin 21-19 in a tense semifinal. Wabwire and George Ooro powered the Bankers to a 21-5 advantage before Quins staged a late comeback that fell just short.
Oilers booked their place in the final with a dramatic 24-19 victory over Strathmore Leos. Bildad Ogeta’s brace and a last-gasp try from Calvin Mulewa sealed the win after a thrilling back-and-forth contest.
