KCB RFC capped off a flawless 2025 National Sevens Circuit with a hard-fought 12-5 win over Kabras RFC in the Dala 7s final, played on Sunday, September 14, at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Kisumu.
The triumph not only handed the bankers the Dala crown but also confirmed them as overall circuit champions after a campaign marked by consistency and dominance. The wet conditions in Kisumu added to the intensity of the showdown, which was the first Cup final between the two giants since 2023.
Kabras, appearing in their first cup final of the season, were chasing a slice of history as they aimed to become the first team to retain the title since Homeboyz in 2017. KCB, meanwhile, were eyeing another milestone, having reached every Cup final in this year’s circuit — a feat last achieved in 2016.
The bankers struck early through Samuel Asati, with Stephen Osumba slotting in the conversion for a 7-0 lead. Kabras responded through Rayvone Ambale after being set up by Eric Cantona, though the missed conversion left them trailing 7-5 at the break. In the second half, Floyd Wabwire touched down to stretch KCB’s advantage, and the bankers defended stoutly to close out the 12-5 victory.
In the bronze playoff, Menengai Oilers ran riot against Daystar Falcons, cruising to a 33-0 win. Daniel Kipchirchir, Denis Abukuse, and Beldad Ogeta dotted down in the opening half, with Eric Ogutu adding two conversions. Ogeta struck again after the restart before Alvin Khavoli sealed the rout.
Elsewhere, Nakuru RFC edged Mwamba RFC 17-10 to finish fifth, while Catholic Monks lifted the Challenge Trophy with a 26-7 win over Impala RFC.
