KCB lead the standings on 82 points, having featured in all four Cup finals, while Strathmore have appeared in three. Both teams have claimed two titles each, with Strathmore’s wins coming against KCB.

Driftwood 7s – KCB Hold On in a Classic
KCB Rugby claimed the 2025 Driftwood 7s crown after a narrow 15-14 win over Strathmore Leos at Mombasa Sports Club. Elvis Olukusi and Floyd Wabwire gave the Bankers a 15-0 halftime lead, but the Leos roared back with a try from Barnabas Owuor and a late penalty try. KCB’s composure in the final minutes secured a thrilling victory.

Prinsloo 7s – Strathmore Leos Retain Title
Strathmore Leos bounced back to retain the Prinsloo 7s with a 24-7 win over KCB at Nakuru Athletic Club in wet conditions. Victor Mola’s brace and Barnabas Owuor’s finish secured the students’ third Prinsloo 7s crown, adding to 2009 and 2023 triumphs.

Christie 7s – KCB Move Clear at the Summit
KCB reinforced their lead in the overall standings with a 19-5 win over Menengai Oilers at Nairobi’s RFUEA Grounds. Floyd Wabwire scored twice, with Brian Wahinya converting both, to seal the Bankers’ second circuit title of the season. KCB had reached the final after a tense 21-19 semifinal win over Kenya Harlequins, while Menengai Oilers booked their place with a dramatic 24-19 victory over Strathmore Leos.
Embu 7s – Strathmore Strike Back
Strathmore Leos dethroned KCB at the Embu 7s with a 31-21 victory at Njukiiri Grounds. Nygel Amaitsa, Victor Mola, Stanslaus Shokoli, and Barnabas Owuor helped the Leos race to a 24-0 lead, before KCB rallied with a hat-trick from Floyd Wabwire. Samuel Wafula’s late try sealed the win, keeping the overall title race tantalizingly close.
The Road Ahead
With the Kabeberi 7s in Nairobi and the Dala 7s in Kisumu still to play, the question on everyone’s mind is: who will blink first? Both teams are chasing milestones—KCB aim to become the most successful team in NSC history with a fifth overall title (2013, 2014, 2019, 2023), while Strathmore Leos look to end a 16-year wait for their second title, having last won the NSC in 2009.
