Kabras Sugar RFC halfback Warren Kamadi has completed a move to Victoria University RFC in Uganda.
The Sawagongo high school alumnus, who spent last season on loan at Kisumu RFC, is set to leave the country today to link up with his new club in Kampala. His transfer comes just a week after fellow Kabras player Humphrey Asiligwa made a similar move to the Ugandan side.
Speaking exclusively to Two5four, Kamadi expressed excitement about the opportunity and gratitude to everyone who supported his growth at Kabras.
“It’s a big step for me both in life and in my rugby career,” Kamadi said.
“Joining Victoria University gives me a chance to challenge myself in a new environment and continue learning the game from a different perspective.”
He added a note of appreciation to his former club and teammates.
“I want to thank everyone at Kabras and Kisumu, the management, coaches, and especially my teammates for believing in me and helping me grow as a player. Kabras will always be home, and I’ll carry the lessons and memories with me,” he said.
Kamadi joins Victoria University with clear ambitions to make an immediate impact in Uganda’s competitive rugby setup.
“My target is to earn my place in the team, contribute to winning games, and help raise the club’s profile in the region. I’m ready to work hard and make the most of this opportunity,” he affirmed.
The young scrum-half joined the sugar millers in 2022 from MKU Nairobi.
Victoria University will be in action this weekend, away to IMPIS at Makerere from 4 p.m., after kicking off their Uganda Cup campaign with a 20-0 walkover win over Elgon Wolves last weekend.
The side will hope to build on that momentum as they welcome new signings to strengthen their squad for the ongoing competition.
