The organizers of the 2025 Impala Floodlit Rugby Tournament have announced a revision of this year’s competition dates in honor of the late former Prime Minister, Right Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga.
In a statement jointly signed by Impala Rugby Club Chairman Peter Nduati and the 2025 Floodlit Organizing Committee Chairman Daniel Ndaba, the change was made to allow the rugby fraternity to join the nation in mourning the departed statesman.
“The revision is in respect of the passing of the former Prime Minister Right Honorable Raila Amolo Odinga and to join the nation in mourning the statesman,” the statement read in part.
The tournament, which traditionally marks the kickoff of the Kenya Cup season, will now run on the following revised dates:
Quarterfinals: Saturday, October 25, 2025
Semifinals: Saturday, November 1, 2025
Finals: Saturday, November 8, 2025

Organizers confirmed that all purchased tickets remain valid despite the date changes.
The statement concluded with condolences to Raila Odinga’s family, friends, and the Kenyan people, saying, “We join the rugby fraternity in passing our heartfelt condolences to Raila’s family, friends and the nation of Kenya. May Baba rest in eternal peace.”
