Impala Floodies Quarterfinal Line-Up Confirmed as Oilers Face KCB in Opening Clash

The stage is set for the 42nd edition of the Impala Floodlit Tournament, with entertaining quarterfinal matchups confirmed across the men’s, varsity, and ladies’ categories. The tournament kicks off on October 18th at the Impala Club, Ngong Road, marking the traditional curtain-raiser to the 2025/26 rugby season.

Defending champions Menengai Oilers will begin their title defence with a mouth-watering clash against former champions KCB RFC. Hosts Impala RFC will battle Mwamba RFC, while Kenya Harlequin take on Blak Blad in another heated Nairobi derby. The final quarterfinal pairing pits Nondescripts RFC against Strathmore Leos.

In the varsity category, eight universities will compete for top honours. The fixtures will see Kabete stallions take on USIU, JKUAT face Impala Swaras, Mean Machine lock horns with Daystar, and KCA University square off against Zetech University. Notably, last year’s champions Rift Valley University will miss out on this year’s edition.

The women’s category will kick off from the semifinal stage, featuring reigning champions Mwamba RFC against Northern Suburbs, while Impala Roans face Kenya Harlequin Queens in the other semi. Mwamba will be keen to defend their crown after lifting the trophy in 2024.
