Daystar Falcons advanced to the semifinals of the 2025 Impala Floodlit Varsity category after a spirited 20-13 victory over Mean Machine in their quarterfinal clash at the Impala Club on Saturday, October 25, 2025.
The Falcons started brightly, capitalizing on an early error from Machine. Eddie Wambugu intercepted a loose pass and sprinted to score the opener, giving Daystar a 5-0 lead after Patrick Odongo’s missed conversion. Mean Machine’s penalty attempt went wide, and the Falcons soon extended their lead through a well-worked move involving Randy Otuoma, Vincent Omuroka, and Wambugu. Odongo finished off the play before Otuoma converted for 12-0.
Otuoma then powered through the left flank for an unconverted try, making it 17-0, before Wambugu added a penalty to give Daystar a comfortable 20-0 lead at halftime.
Mean Machine came out fighting in the second half, cutting the deficit with a penalty and a converted try to make it 20-10, then added another penalty to trail 20-13. Despite the late surge, the Falcons’ defense stood tall to secure the win and a place in the last four.
