Former Shujaa players Alex Olaba and Frank Wanyama are scheduled to be retried on 9 February 2026, according to The Daily Nation.
The development came after Milimani Law Courts Senior Principal Magistrate Rose Ndombi directed prison authorities to escort Olaba, who is serving a six-year sentence for threatening to kill a key witness in the case, to hospital for treatment ahead of the retrial.
In August 2019, Olaba and Wanyama were initially sentenced to 15 years in prison for the gang rape of a woman in Nairobi in February 2018 .
Their convictions were later quashed in June 2020 by then High Court Judge Grace Kariuki, now a Judge of the Court of Appeal, who set aside the original sentence and ordered a retrial before a different magistrate.
