Confident Start for South Coast Pirates as Khadambi Eyes Steady Build-Up

South Coast Pirates head coach Tony Khadambi believes his side’s 25–11 victory over Western Bulls in Kakamega last weekend is the perfect springboard for a season they hope will signal real progress.

Making the longest trip on the league calendar, Pirates dug deep to collect a bonus-point win, a result Khadambi says speaks volumes about the squad’s character and work ethic.

“It was a tough first outing but the boys showed character and earned a very important victory for our confidence,” the coach told Two5four Rugby.

“We’re happy with the result, but we stay grounded. Put in the work and our focus is one game at a time as we keep building.” he offered.

The win lifts Pirates’ spirits ahead of their first home fixture of the campaign as they prepare to host USIU this Saturday at the Seacrest grounds.

Khadambi insists their approach remains simple, maintain discipline, trust the system, and take each challenge with intent.

With a promising blend of youthful and experienced heads, Pirates will be looking to back up their Kakamega heroics and establish early momentum in the competition as they aim to gain promotion back to top flight Kenya Cup league.
