KCB RFC picked up a vital bonus-point win after brushing aside Kisumu RFC 41–10 in their second outing of the 2025/26 Kenya Cup season at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Kisumu.
Despite the comfortable scoreline, the Bankers had to weather an uncomfortable opening spell. Kisumu started with real urgency, forcing KCB into early mistakes and pinning them in their own half. The hosts’ bright start paid off when they snatched a lead through a well-struck drop goal.
KCB eventually settled and found their rhythm. Bramwel Kilwake crashed over from a powerful scrum deep in Kisumu territory, with Elvis Namusasi adding the extras to turn the tide. Soon after, winger Floyd Wabwire sliced through the Kisumu defence for a classy finish, handing KCB a 12–3 lead at the break.
After halftime, the game shifted entirely in KCB’s favour. Kilwake dotted down again from another well-constructed move, before former Kisumu man Branton Biko came back to haunt his old club with a scintillating solo try to stretch the lead to 22–3.
From there, the visitors opened the taps. Michael Kimwele and Samuel Asati crossed for further tries, while substitute Austin Sikutwa nailed two key conversions. Biko then rounded off a brilliant personal outing with his second try of the match, pushing the score out to 41–3.
Kisumu grabbed a late consolation try, but the contest had long been settled as KCB marched off with a convincing 41–10 victory.
After the match, KCB head coach Andrew Amonde applauded his team’s response under pressure but urged them to sharpen their early-game execution.
“We didn’t start the way we wanted. Kisumu had more intensity in the first 20 minutes and we were slow to settle,” Amonde said.
“We need our players to step up earlier, especially with the new faces still adapting to our structures. The bonus point gives us momentum, but there’s more work ahead.”he concluded.
