The 2025 Rugby Africa Women’s Sevens kicked off with emphatic early statements from the continent’s top contenders, as Tunisia, Zambia, Ghana, and Zimbabwe all cruised to convincing victories in their opening fixtures.
Tunisia opened their campaign in fashion, controlling possession and territory to register a 22-0 win over Egypt.
Zambia were the second to take the pitch and they delivered the biggest scoreline of the round, dismantling Burkina Faso 52-0. The Zambians looked sharp in every department, sending a clear message to the rest of the competition.
The third match of the day saw Ghana equally ruthless, running riot against Côte d’Ivoire in a 57-0 victory.
Zimbabwe wrapped up the early action with a strong 29-5 win over Mauritius. Although Mauritius managed a consolation try, the Lady Cheetahs were in control throughout, displaying structure, discipline, and clinical finishing.
With such explosive starts, the stage is now set for a highly competitive Day 1 as teams push toward knockout qualification and ultimately the continental crown.
The fifth match will see Madagascar plat Egypt at 12:00 pm before Uganda face Burkina Faso then hosts Kenya lionesses play Cote d’Ivoire at 12:44pm.
