Beirne Cleared for Japan Test After Red Card Reversal

Ireland forward Tadhg Beirne has been cleared to play against Japan this weekend after the red card he received in the 26–13 defeat to New Zealand was overturned by an independent disciplinary panel.

The Munster back-rower was sin-binned early in the Chicago test for a high tackle on Beauden Barrett. The yellow card was later upgraded to a 20-minute red following a bunker review.

After reviewing footage and evidence from both sides, the panel concluded that while Beirne’s challenge amounted to foul play, it did not meet the threshold for a red card.

The decision means Beirne will be available for Ireland’s remaining fixtures this month, with tests against Australia and South Africa still to come.
