Arinaitwe to Lead Uganda’s New-Look Squad at Safari 7s

Uganda Rugby has unveiled a fresh-faced 12-man squad set to represent the nation at this year’s Safari Sevens, set to take place this weekend from 10th-12th October at the Nyayo national stadium.

The squad, captained by Karim Arinaitwe, includes seven debutants who will be tasting Safari 7s action for the first time, a clear sign of Uganda’s focus on exposing new talent to top-tier regional competition.

Debutants Allan Olango, Jeremiah Ojambo, Fat Moses Watmon, Ivan Bulima, Jones Kamiza, Shakim Ssembusi, and Julius Oyuk headline the newcomers, eager to make their mark on one of Africa’s most prestigious sevens tournaments.

They will line up alongside seasoned campaigners Roy Kizito, Patrick Okello, Gift Wokorach, and Daniel Otim, whose experience will be key in guiding the new faces through the high-intensity three-day tournament in Nairobi.

Uganda’s participation comes at a time when the East African rivalry continues to heat up, with both Kenya Shujaa and Morans also fielding competitive sides.

This year’s men’s draw features a strong international lineup that includes Zimbabwe, Zambia, Shogun, French Renegades, UK Select, Apache Rugby, Reunion, KCB RFC, and Walukuba Barbarians (UG).
