Local bragging rights will be on the line this Sunday when Menengai Oilers face off with Nakuru RFC in a highly anticipated Nakuru derby at the Prinsloo 7s quarterfinals, set to take place at the Nakuru Athletic Club.

Oilers come into the clash in confident mood, having topped Pool B unbeaten. A commanding 31-5 win over Daystar Falcons, powered by a Denis Abukuse hat-trick, was followed by a hard-fought 17-7 victory against defending champions Strathmore Leos. The latter result was particularly sweet for Oilers, who were edged by Leos at the Driftwood 7s last weekend.

Nakuru, meanwhile, bounced back from a 12-7 loss to Kenya Harlequin with a convincing 19-0 win over Mombasa RFC. Led by captain Chrissant Ojwang, the hosts have looked solid defensively, and with a raucous home crowd expected to back them, the Wanyore will be hoping to knock out their town rivals in what promises to be a fiery contest.

In other action, Mwamba RFC pulled off the upset of the day by narrowly edging out Kabras Sugar 17-15 in a thriller. Mwamba showed resilience and character, coming from behind with tries from Eugene Odhiambo and Stephen Sakari to claim a win that has blown Pool D wide open.

The remaining quarterfinal matchups will see a heavyweight clash between KCB and Kabras, While Mwamba will now play Catholic University (CUEA).
