Defending Champions Kabras, Oilers Off to Flying Starts in Dala 7s Round 1

The 2025 Dala 7s got off to an electrifying start in Kisumu as top contenders stamped their authority in round one of pool matches.

Menengai Oilers signaled their intent with a 50-0 victory over Kisumu RFC, lighting up the morning with free-flowing rugby and clinical finishing thanks to a Denis Abukuse hatrick.

Mwamba RFC were equally ruthless, thrashing Embu 40-0 to start their campaign on a high.

Dala 7s title holders Kabras Sugar saw off Masinde Muliro (MMUST) with a 24-15 win in a tightly contested Western derby, while KCB outclassed Homeboyz 36-12, showing their familiar sharpness on the 7s stage.

Daystar Falcons provided one of the shockers of the day, edging giants Kenya Harlequin 20-14 in a tight contest that went down to the wire. Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) also stunned Nakuru with a narrow 14-10 win in another nail-biter.

Nondescripts proved too strong for Mombasa RFC, running out 41-5 winners to stay in early contention.
