Former Kenya Cup outfit South Coast Pirates RFC have confirmed the appointment of Tony “Lujesi” Khadambi as their new head coach ahead of the 2025/26 KRU Championship season.
Khadambi, a seasoned rugby figure, boasts vast experience both on and off the pitch. A product of top local academies, he enjoyed a decorated playing career with Impala, KCB, and Homeboyz before captaining the Kenya U20 (Chipu) 7s side. Beyond his playing days, he has built an impressive coaching résumé, guiding Moi University Arsonists to consistent success and working with Ugandan sides Tororo Crest and Jinja Hippos. He has also played a key role in grassroots rugby development across the region.
Confirming the appointment, the club said: “We are delighted to welcome Tony ‘Lujesi’ Khadambi as the new head coach of South Coast Pirates. With his passion for the game, player welfare, and community development, Khadambi embodies the Pirate spirit of ambition, resilience, and family.”
The position had remained vacant following the departure of Kevin Amiani, with Ken Wambua serving on an interim basis. Khadambi now takes over with the challenge of steering the coastal side back to the Kenya Cup after their relegation last season, alongside Mwamba RFC.
His arrival signals a fresh chapter for Pirates as they prepare for a demanding Championship campaign, with the clear goal of reclaiming their top-flight status.
