The 2025 Kabeberi Sevens got off at the RFUEA Grounds, with Round One producing a mix of upsets, high-scoring wins, and hard-fought draws.
Group A saw the first shock of the day as Mombasa RFC edged Nakuru RFC 15-14, holding on to claim a famous victory. Reigning champions KCB flexed their muscle in the other fixture, cruising to a dominant 54-0 win over Mean Machine.
In Group B, traditional rivals Kenya Harlequins and Impala RFC settled for a tense 10-10 draw, while Strathmore Leos impressed with a commanding 25-7 win over Mwamba RFC, sending a strong early statement.
Group C was another stage for surprises, as Daystar Falcons stunned Homeboyz RFC 15-7, while Catholic Monks overpowered MMUST 26-5 in a one-sided contest.
Meanwhile, in Group D, the tournament’s top contenders showed no mercy. Kabras Sugar thrashed Kisumu RFC 61-0, and Menengai Oilers dispatched Embu RFC 45-0 in an equally clinical display.
With one round done, the stage is set for even more drama in Round Two.
