Okwemba Leaves Koyonzo for Bokoli Boys in Search of New Challenge

Koyonzo Boys High School head coach Eliud Okwemba has officially been transferred by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to Bungoma-based Bokoli Boys High School, ending an illustrious chapter that redefined Koyonzo’s place in school rugby.

Since joining Koyonzo in 2017, Okwemba has transformed the school from relative obscurity into a regional and continental powerhouse. Under his stewardship, Koyonzo claimed the coveted East Africa Rugby Sevens title in 2023, lifted two national sevens titles, and made four appearances at the nationals. They also established dominance in Western and Kakamega County with four regional and county championships apiece.

Reflecting on his move, Okwemba told Two5four Media:

“I felt it was time for a new challenge. What we achieved with Koyonzo will always be special, but growth also means stepping into new environments and building something fresh. Bokoli Boys have the potential, and I am excited to work with them in shaping their rugby journey.”

Bokoli Boys, though known in Bungoma County for producing talented rugby players, have yet to stamp their authority as giants in the school games. With Okwemba’s proven track record, the school community hopes his arrival will mark the beginning of a new era.

As he leaves Koyonzo, Okwemba carries with him a legacy of discipline, resilience, and historic victories that turned the school into one of the most feared sides in the East African secondary schools rugby scene.
