St Peter’s Mumias End Nine-Year Wait to Reclaim FEASSSA 7s Title

2025 KSSSA 7s champions St Peter’s Mumias high school rugby team have ended a nine-year wait to reclaim the FEASSSA Rugby 7s crown after going unbeaten at the Bull Ring in Kakamega county.

The Saints, who carved their name in history back in 2016 as the first Kenyan side to win the regional 7s title, have now become the first team to lift the trophy twice.

Their road to glory this year was marked by ruthless efficiency. They opened their FEASSSA campaign with a 31-0 win over Uganda’s Makerere, before being awarded a 12-7 result against fellow Kenyan heavyweights Koyonzo. The deciding moment came against Bungoma High, where both sides finished tied on points, but St Peter’s edged their rivals on point differential to seal the championship.

Speaking to Two5four Rugby after the victory, St Peter’s captain Reegan Williams could not hide his pride in the team’s achievement.

“This win means everything to us because we’ve been working for it since day one, it has not been an easy journey,To finally bring the title back after nine years is a dream come true, not just for us as players, but for the school and our community,” he said.

Elsewhere, Bwake and Koyonzo also posted big wins in their respective fixtures, underlining Kenya’s continued dominance in the short version of the game.

Attention now shifts back to the Rugby 15s competition, which will take a break on Wednesday before resuming on Thursday to decide this year’s champions.
