Bungoma High School etched their name into Kenyan rugby sevens history on Thursday afternoon after qualifying for the East Africa Secondary School Games in the shorter format for the very first time after edging Lenana school 22-12 in the ongoing KSSSA national 7s quater finals at the Bullring grounds, Kakamega county.
It is a landmark moment for the school, who return to the East Africa Games for the first time since 2016, then as participants in the 15s rugby version.
Bungoma’s qualification is part of a strong statement by Western region schools, with three of the four qualifiers for FEASSSA hailing from the rugby rich region.
Bungoma now join Koyonzo, national defending champions Bwake, and St. Peters Mumias as Kenya’s official representatives in boys’ rugby sevens at the East Africa Games

Bungoma 22-12 Lenana School
Bwake Boys 24-00 Musingu
Koyonzo 40-07 Nairobi School
St. Peters Mumias 12-00 Yala
Bungoma will now face their Western region counterparts St peters Mumias in the semis while Koyonzo take on Bwake.
