2026 KSSSA to Feature First-Ever Girls’ Rugby Fifteens

The 2026 National Co-Curricular Activities Calendar for the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) marks a historic moment in Kenyan sports, with the debut of Rugby Fifteens for girls at the national level. This is the first time that girls will compete in the full-contact Rugby Fifteens format at a national competition.

Scheduled for Term One, the Nationals will be held in Kisumu from 5th to 11th April. This groundbreaking event will feature girls’ Rugby Fifteens, alongside a range of other disciplines, including athletics, swimming, and basketball.

The girls’ Rugby Fifteens competition will follow the same structure as the boys’ tournaments, with schools from across the country vying for the coveted national title.

In Term Two, from 28th July to 1st August, the Nationals in Kiambu will feature Rugby Sevens for both boys and girls, in addition to other sports such as soccer and volleyball.

The year will culminate with the 2026 FEASSA Games in Tanzania, from 12th to 23rd August, where Kenya’s top performers, including girls’ rugby teams, will compete for regional glory. Kisii School currently holds the East Africa Rugby Fifteens title, while St. Peter’s Mumias is the defending champion in the Rugby Sevens boys’ category. Uganda’s Jinja SS claimed the girls’ Rugby Sevens title in the region.
