A total of 15 teans drawn from across Western region have confirmed participation ahead of the inaugural Malala 7s, the the two-day tournament is set to run from 30th to 31st at the iconic Bull Ring, home of Western Bulls RFC.
Western Bulls will play host to the maiden edition of the competition, which is expected to attract strong interest from rugby fans across Western Kenya and beyond. The tournament is organized by a former Kakamega County Senator and a 2027 gubernatorial candidate Cleophas Wakhungu Malala.
The confirmed teams include hosts Western Bulls, Lurambi Young Boys, MMUST RFC, Kabras under 20 RFC, Shamberere RFC, Mbale, Ikonyero, Sigalagala, Shinyalu Wailers, Busia Border Rucks, Bungoma, Bukura, Mumias, Webuye, Rough Machines, and Vihiga Granite.
Pool fixtures are expected to be released later today, setting the stage for what promises to be a thrilling weekend of rugby action at the Bull Ring, with winner set to walk away with Ksh 300,000/=
