12 Teams Confirmed for Mwambao Touch Rugby in Mombasa

 

A total of 12 teams from across coastal region have confirmed participation in the inaugural Mwambao Touch Rugby Tournament set to take place this Saturday, 27th, at the Shanzu Annex Grounds in Mombasa.

The one-day tournament is organised by the Coast Rugby Fraternity and is expected to bring together players, officials and rugby enthusiasts from across the region. The teams set to compete are The Cocks, Diani Smooth Transport, hosts Shanzu Marlins, Marlins Queens, Bamburi Cranes, Maul Solutions, Jeshi Tours, TUM Ladies, Vimoda RFC, Team Behta, Team Mnazi and Kenya Coast National Polytechnic (KCNP)

Tournament organiser Kagota Edwin, who also serves as the Coast Rugby Referees Treasurer, noted that the main objective of the Mwambao Touch Rugby Tournament goes beyond competition. The event is designed as a get-together for the Coast rugby fraternity, aimed at strengthening networks and collectively forging a way forward for rugby development in the region.

“This is about bringing the Coast rugby family together and creating space for dialogue on how we can grow the game,” said Kagota.

The organisers have also appealed to well-wishers and partners to come on board and support the tournament, emphasizing that collective support will be key to delivering a successful event.
